Vereda do Areeiro – PR1 – 6,1 km

This historical trail connects Curral das Freiras to Boaventura via the remote Urzal valley. Currently open only from Boaventura (Lombo do Urzal) to km 6,2. The partial section still offers lush forests, scenic isolation, and a journey into Madeira’s wild north.

A historic route linking Ribeira das Cales to Monte, following part of the ancient royal road system. This path takes you through dense forest, traditional stone paving, and scenic lookouts, merging Madeira’s natural charm with its cultural past.

One of Madeira’s most beautiful levada trails, this route from Queimadas to Caldeirão Verde takes you deep into the Laurisilva forest. Narrow paths, tunnels, and waterfalls create a magical atmosphere. Note: the stretch beyond Caldeirão Verde to Caldeirão do Inferno is currently closed.
